The Origin
A Vision Born in the
Middle of Worship
It was during a send-forth event at Stephen Orphanage Centre, Abeokuta, where Mathew Eluwole had been invited to minister. Long before that day, he had quietly carried a dream — to reach out to orphaned children and show them that they are seen, loved, and valued.
In the middle of his ministration, that dream crystallised into a vision: the Getup Charity Initiative. The first expression of that vision was a concert — a gathering where children from orphanage homes across Nigeria could be brought together, not as objects of pity, but as people worthy of celebration.
The concert was named after his band, Getup Crew, and in 2014, the first Getup Charity Concert was held at Sanctuary of Hope Church, Ile-Ife, Osun State, with four orphanage homes, 250 children, and an audience of 2,500 people.
By 2016, six orphanage homes and 3,500 people attended. The vision was growing, and God was faithful.
