The Origin

A Vision Born in the
Middle of Worship

It was during a send-forth event at Stephen Orphanage Centre, Abeokuta, where Mathew Eluwole had been invited to minister. Long before that day, he had quietly carried a dream — to reach out to orphaned children and show them that they are seen, loved, and valued.

In the middle of his ministration, that dream crystallised into a vision: the Getup Charity Initiative. The first expression of that vision was a concert — a gathering where children from orphanage homes across Nigeria could be brought together, not as objects of pity, but as people worthy of celebration.

The concert was named after his band, Getup Crew, and in 2014, the first Getup Charity Concert was held at Sanctuary of Hope Church, Ile-Ife, Osun State, with four orphanage homes, 250 children, and an audience of 2,500 people.

By 2016, six orphanage homes and 3,500 people attended. The vision was growing, and God was faithful.

The Concert Experience

More Than Music,
A Stage for Every Child

Each year, musicians, comedians, and ministers gather alongside the children to create an atmosphere of joy, dignity, and celebration. Past performers include Wole Oni, Big Bolaji, Dbass, Peteru, Woli Arole and many more, with Rev. Prof. Gregory Erhabor serving as host minister and speaker.

The real stars have always been the children themselves, songs, dance, drama, poetry, and creative expression pouring out of them in ways that move audiences to tears. The concert is not merely a show; it is a declaration that these children have something to offer the world.

One landmark edition was held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos — a night where many lives were greatly touched and transformed, to the glory of God.

In partnership with Victoria Fellowship Church Charity Initiative, the vision continues to expand across Nigeria, targeting over ten orphanage homes and bringing the Getup Charity Concert to more cities.

Beyond the Concert

A Mentoring Movement
in the Making

As the vision has grown, so has the calling. What began as a yearly concert has evolved into something far greater, a structured platform for life, spiritual, and career mentoring for children who have never had a voice to call their own.

The goal is to walk alongside these children, not just for one day a year, but consistently. To help them discover their identity, develop their gifts, and understand that their stories do not end at the orphanage gate.

"I was where you are — and look where God brought me."

Top gospel artists who have themselves overcome abuse and hardship will be invited to share their stories. This is only the beginning. All glory to God, the Alpha and Omega of this vision, who has been faithful at every turn.
